Visit to the Town Hall
Last Tuesday Luisa and I received official recognition from the local mayor for our work in Shalom with those with disabilities. We went to the town hall to receive a Diploma of Honour along with other teachers who work with children in inclusion in regular schools.

Team Visit from Diocese of Albany

Just before the inauguration it was great to receive a visit from a team from the Diocese of Albany who helped put the finishing touches to the Shalom centre, painting the Diocesan shield, painting chairs, painting a bathroom and several other pending chores which were great to get done before all the visitors on the 27th.

INAUGURATION SHALOM

On Tuesday 27th July friends and invited guests attended the official inauguration ceremony for the new building for the Shalom church and therapy centre. A red and white awning was erected in the street as we also combined celebrations for the Peruvian independence day which is 28th July. Various songs, poems and dances were presented and then Bishop William Gofrey gave a reflexion and officially opened the premises.

The ceremony began by welcoming guests and thanking all those churches and individuals in the Uk who had made the purchase and renovation of the new building a reality.

A traditional dance was presented with costumes and a lot of fun especially when guests were invited from the audience to join in.

For the official cutting of the ribbon I was dressed in traditional peruvian outfit, complete with plaits, having just danced with colleagues and some of the young people from Shalom.
